KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A teenager survived with serious injures for nearly a day after shots were fired into a vehicle Friday near 63rd Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Kansas City, Missouri, police said.
Two teenagers were in the vehicle heading north on MLK Boulevard, formerly known as The Paseo, when someone shot at their vehicle, a police spokesman said. The driver lost control of the vehicle and ran into the side of the building a couple of blocks away.
One of the teens was shot and transported to an area hospital, where KCPD announced Saturday that he died from his injuries.
The victim in the now-deadly shooting was identified as Deontae Campbell, a 17-year-old black male.
The other teen in the car with Campbell was not shot but had minor injuries from the crash.
Police do not have any suspect information.
