ORIGINAL STORY, May 26 | One person is dead after a stabbing Tuesday night in Kansas City, Missouri.
The stabbing happened about 7:30 p.m. outside the Family Dollar store at East 18th Street and Prospect Avenue.
Officers performed CPR and other lifesaving measures, but the victim died at the scene, a police spokesman said.
A store employee told officers the stabbing involved a shoplifter, a police spokesman said.
One person was arrested at the scene.
This is the 67th homicide of the year in Kansas City, Missouri compared with 54 at this time a year ago.
This is the third deadly stabbing of the year in Kansas City, Missouri, according to police department statistics.
