KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A woman was found shot to death early Thursday morning near East 59th Street and Agnes Avenue, according to Kansas City, Missouri, police.

Officers responded to the shooting shortly after 4 a.m. A woman was found dead inside a home.

On Friday, police identified the victim as 34-year-old Keva Hill.

As officers were investigating the shooting, a man who said he wanted to "turn himself in" contacted police at a separate location. Police said Friday that one person had been charged in connection with the shooting, but further details were not immediately available.

Police said they were not looking for any additional suspects.

The woman's death marks the 145th homicide in Kansas City so far this year. The city is on pace to see a record number of homicides in 2020.

"It's very unfortunate," Sgt. Jake Becchina said Thursday morning. "It's a pattern that we've seen in other cities similar to our size and larger even across the country.”
