Police ID man shot to death Monday in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is dead following a shooting Monday in Kansas City, Missouri.

Police responded around 5:10 p.m. to a house in the 1600 block of Elmwood Avenue, where the fatal shooting occurred.

A man inside the house was hit by gunfire from outside the house, police said.

The victim, a man in his 50's, died a short time later. He was identified Tuesday as Paul Garica, 50, of KCMO.

Witnesses told police they saw 2 to 3 men shooting into the house. police said.

The men got into a car after the shooting and sped from the scene.

The police department's spokesman said with the warm weather several people were outside when the killing occurred.
