KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Mayor Sly James got creative with the city’s pitch to bring Amazon’s new headquarters here.
He stopped into the 41 Action News studio Thursday morning to chat about the Amazon pitch.

Wednesday the mayor unveiled a campaign to get Amazon’s attention on social media.

The idea is for people across the metro area to review products on Amazon using the hashtag “#KC5Stars,’ highlighting some of Kansas City’s best qualities.
Mayor James provided some examples to kick start the campaign.

The mayor rattled off a list of things that make Kansas City a great choice for Amazon:
- Affordable housing
- A qualified workforce
- Within 3 hours of 2,000 miles of shoreline (Lake of the Ozarks)
- 2nd highest amount of rail traffic in the country
- KC is right in the middle of the country
- Good education system
Mayor James also said his team has plans for Amazon’s Alexa, but said that plan would be rolled out at a later time.
All of the products the mayor reviewed on Amazon were bought with private funds and will be donated to charity, the mayor said.
