KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A corporate headquarters in Overland Park might be heading to Missouri.
Waddell & Reed Financial said Wednesday the company is exploring whether to relocate its headquarters — currently near Shawnee Mission Parkway and Lamar Avenue in Overland Park — to one of several possible sites in Missouri.
“Over the past two years, we have taken very deliberate and necessary steps to strengthen the foundation of our business,” CEO/CIO Phil Sanders said in a press release.
The company plans to make further announcements on the possible move before the end of the year.
“At this point, the evaluation of site options is ongoing, and no specific location has been selected,” Sanders said. “We are committed to keeping our employees and the community informed as the process continues to unfold in the coming months.”
Although the company spent its first 53 years based in Kansas City, Missouri, it has been in its current location for the last 29 years.
