KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An Overland Park street will soon be named in honor of a fallen officer.
The Overland Park City Council voted on Monday to approve renaming a section of 123rd Street after Officer Mike Mosher, who died in the line of duty in May.
Mosher, a 14.5 year veteran of the city’s police department, died following a shooting after he pursued a hit-and-run suspect.
The section of 123rd Street between Metcalf and Blue Valley Parkway will be called Mike Mosher Boulevard.
At the time of Mosher’s death, Overland Park Police Chief Frank Donchez said the veteran officer was dedicated to helping his "brother and sister officers."
Mosher left behind a wife and daughter.
