Brenda Trotter-Wood has been fighting to get her dog, Honey, back from her dog sitter, Sondra Jay.
Jay told Wood she was having surgery and wanted to hang out with Honey for a couple days. Wood agreed, but when she went to pick Honey up, Jay refused to give the dog back.
41 Action News spoke to Jay on Tuesday. She admitted she had Honey and knew she didn’t legally own the dog. Jay said when it comes to Honey, “It’s in hiding. I’m in hiding.”
But on Friday, John Lacy with Overland Park police told 41 Action News Honey had been found. That afternoon, Honey and Wood were reunited.
Overland Park police said Jay will still face municipal charges.
