UPDATE, June 22 | The victim was identified as 23-year-old Zahara Kathawalla of Kansas City.

Police also said that the suspect in the crash turned themselves in and the investigation is continuing.

ORIGINAL STORY, June 21 | Kansas City, Missouri, police said a vehicle believed to have been involved in a deadly crash with a pedestrian early Sunday morning has been located, but the investigation continues.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle shortly before 3 a.m. near 43rd and Main streets.

Witnesses report two vehicles racing southbound on Main Street as an adult female attempted to cross the street, according to KCPD.

A 23-year-old Kansas City woman who was struck by one of the vehicles died at the scene.

The dark-colored vehicle fled the scene and police said it probably had "heavy damage" to its front, hood and possibly windshield.

The intersection is the same on where Haley Hackett, a 21-year-old student from California at the Kansas City Art Institute, was struck and killed by a vehicle in July 2018.
