KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police said a pedestrian was injured when they were hit by a car in the 2600 block of Independence Avenue.

Police were called to the area just before midnight.

A westbound Honda sedan hit the pedestrian as they were crossing the roadway. The driver stopped briefly and then left the scene.

The pedestrian has non-life-threatening injuries, according to KCPD, and is in serious but stable condition at the hospital.

That victim was simply identified as a 40-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, man.

It was initially called in as a hit and run, but police were able to find and arrest the driver they believe is involved in the crash a short time later on Interstate 35.

KCPD said the 28-year-old woman is being investigated for impairment.
