KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A pedestrian was struck and killed after being hit by a car doing donuts in a parking lot.
The Kansas City Police Department says emergency crews were called to the 3600 block of Front Street just after 10:30 p.m.
A large crowd had gathered for an illegal street racing side show.
Two vehicles were doing donuts in the parking lot.
An orange Dodge Charger struck and ran over a pedestrian. The Dodge Charger then fled the scene.
The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital, with an initial report of non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the pedestrian was then rushed into surgery where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The Dodge driver returned to the scene and contact was made with officers who were still on scene investigating the collision. The driver was taken into custody.
