KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Families who have lost a loved one killed in the line of duty will have a new place to remember their sacrifice.
On Wednesday morning, officials unveiled plans for a new Law Enforcement Memorial Garden planned for 3.5 acres near the Regional Police Academy and Shoal Creek Patrol Division in the Northland.
The garden will recognize not just local law enforcement, but also officers from state and federal agencies killed in the line of duty in Kansas City.
“The memorial would provide a place for his son and daughter to go to be proud of the recognition their father had received,” Patty Robinson, the sister of a fallen KCPD officer, said Wednesday at a news conference announcing the garden.
Officials plan to have information about each of the officers – both their professional careers but also who they were as people.
Construction is slated to begin this summer.
