KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Authorities in Platte County, Missouri, are investigating the death of a 61-year-old white male, whose body was found Friday in the area of an overturned boat near Weston, Missouri.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office received a call Thursday evening from the family of a man who lived in the area concerned they had been unable to reach him.

Deputies were unable to locate him Thursday evening, but discovered a man’s body around 11 a.m. on Friday while searching a flooded area near Bean Lake.

The name of the victim is being withheld to allow the family time to make notifications.

Foul play is not suspected, according to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office, but the Medical Examiner’s Office will make an official determination of the cause of death.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Marine Division assisted the investigation.
