KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Less than two weeks after announcing long-time Plaza restaurant Plaza III Steakhouse was closing, the Plaza announced a new health restaurant that will take over the location.

True Food Kitchen, a health-driven “seasonal restaurant,” will open in 2019 in the old Plaza III space. Plaza III's last day is scheduled for March 10.

The announcement is the latest in a serious of new announcements and changeovers on the Plaza within the last year.

Earlier this year, the entertainment district announced plans to open a new Nordstrom’s store on the Plaza, relocating it from Oak Park Mall.

“Distinctive dining is a key differentiator for the Plaza, and True Food Kitchen’s unique, fresh and flavorful menu and seasonally sourced ingredients will be an excellent addition to our culinary lineup,” said Country Club Plaza General Manager Meredith Keeler in a news release Monday morning. “We are especially excited for the outdoor patio, which will provide a welcomed ambiance to a prominent corner of the district. Our emphasis on bringing the right food, retail and experiences for our customers will continue to set us apart in the region.”

The closest existing True Food Kitchens are located in Chicago and Denver.
