The Kansas City Fire Department found a body and a dog inside a burned out structure Wednesday morning.
Firefighters responded to the scene near 9th and Brighton around 5:45 a.m.
Officials say the fire started in a garage or shed behind a duplex in the area.
Investigators have now clarified that only one body was found instead of two.
Police are actively investigating the scene. It's unclear at this time what started the fire.
