KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A march and rally supporting the Black Lives Matter movement will get underway at 11:00 in Overland Park.
U. S. Congresswoman Sharice Davids, Fred Jones, President of the Johnson County NAACP, Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree, and Overland Park Police Chief Frank Donchez are amongst those scheduled to speak and participate.
The event will begin at the Overland Park City Hall, at 8500 Sante Fe Drive, where residents are to begin a march toward downtown Overland Park.
The group is scheduled to arrive at the clock tower at 7935 Sante Fe Drive at 11:30, and a rally with city leaders and community speakers is set to get underway at noon.
Lead organizer Linnaia McKenzie says "it's time to start discussing how we can overturn systemic racism, racial profiling, and social injustice - not just in policing but in our community as a whole."
