KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City, Missouri, police said an inmate was injured Thursday night in an assault at their temporary jail.
It happened just after 9 p.m. inside the Heartland Center for Behavioral Change at 1514 Campbell.
The inmate told police he was attacked by five other inmates while he was in a bunk area.
Police reviewed surveillance footage and were able to identify four out of the five inmates.
Two employees of Heartland tried to stop the attack but couldn’t.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for a laceration on his eyebrow.
Earlier in August, one inmate died and another escaped at Heartland.
The escapee was captured less than a day later.
