KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man died of an apparent gunshot wound in Independence early Saturday morning.
Independence police say they responded to calls of a "man down" around 3:40 a.m. at 13th and Brookside. When they arrived, they found the body of 37-year old Carlos D. Burnett of Kansas City, Mo. in a grassy area near the roadway, with a gunshot wound.
No suspect information is available at this time. Authorities say this is still an active investigation.
