Downward dog with dogs. The Great Plains SPCA -- Independence campus held a yoga session hosted by Intentionally Eat called “Pose with Pups," a yoga class with accompanied by pooches.
Adoptable dogs were guided by volunteers as the class took place, showing off their personality.
“An event like this is so important to get our dogs out here walking around so people can see how they actually behave in a normal environment,” said Stephanie Pugh with the Great Plains SPCA.
Pugh said that research shows interaction with dogs helps relax people.
“A lot of the things that go along with yoga, beginning kind of Zen and meditating, are things that dogs can help us do.”
Proceeds from the event went to the shelter. A similar session called “Cats and Mat” was held earlier in the year.
