KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Prairie Village police are looking for a woman who was last seen in June, but was just reported missing.
For those eight months, no one has seen or heard from Angela Green on the 7600 block of Tomahawk Road.
"She's not the kind of person who would take off with somebody else," Steven Harville, one of Green's neighbors, told 41 Action News.
Harville and others describe Green as a devoted mother and wife who has lived on the block for the past decade.
"Angela did not do a lot of things on her own," Harville said.
He would usually see her doing yard work and tending to a traffic island.
"The summer came up and Angela wasn't out as usual,” Harville said. “I had asked other neighbors and they thought maybe she had gone to China. She's from China.”
And so life went on, until last week, when police showed up to Green's home to talk to her husband.
"[Police] went into the house through the garage with him, stayed inside quite a while that I did pay attention to that and then they came out the front door,” Harville said. “They went down where you're parked. They talked for quite a little while, came back, knock on the door and went in for another hour.”
Police launched their investigation on Feb. 18 when a family member reported the 51-year-old woman as missing, saying she was last seen on June 19, 2019.
"We've received some conflicting statements regarding her whereabouts that's concerning to us as an organization and at this point we're looking for help from the community,” said Cpt. Ivan Washington, of the Prairie Village Police Department.
Investigators also are worried for Green's safety.
Neighbors said they hope she is alive and well.
"Well, it is a nice, quiet neighborhood and we don't have anything going on,” Sharon Wray, another neighbor, said. “This is most crazy, most bizarre.”
So much so that Washington has not come across a case like this in his 19 years with the department.
Green is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 116 pounds. She is described as of Asian descent, according to police, and has brown hair and brown eyes.
