KANSAS CITY, Mo. — This weekend, the Missouri Department of Transportation warns that drivers should expect delays along Interstate 435 near the Missouri River on the Missouri side.

MoDOT Kansas City also said drivers should get used to slowdowns in the area.

Two lanes of northbound and southbound I-435 will be closed between Missouri 210 and Front Street from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday for concrete pier work.

The eastbound and westbound ramps from Missouri 210 to southbound I-435 also will be closed this weekend for concrete pier work.

The work is in preparation for a two-year rehabilitation project, which begins in March 2020, and will reduce northbound and southbound lanes of I-435 between Missouri 210 and Front Street to one lane.

The closures will have a significant impact on traffic in the area immediately south of Worlds of Fun.
