Presidential candidate Joe Biden to visit KC, speak with striking GM Fairfax workers

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is scheduled to visit Kansas City and speak to striking auto workers Sunday in Kansas City, Kansas.

Jackson County Democrats Executive Director Jeff Gerling said he's recommending people arrive by 1:30, p.m. as Biden, the former vice president to President Obama, is expected to deliver remarks between 2:15 and 3:00 p.m.

Biden joins a growing list of candidates who have made appearance at the local General Motors Fairfax Assembly Plant at 3201 Fairfax Trafficway in KCK.

U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) and State Reps. Mark Ellebrachecht,, Barbara Washington and Robert Sauls visited with striking members on United Auto Workers Local 31 on Friday.

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly visited the picket line Thursday.

Nearly 50,000 union members nationwide have been on strike since Monday as GM and the UAW negotiate a new contract.
