KANSAS CITY, Mo. — You can win prizes autographed by Kansas City Chiefs players as the team kicks off its 60th season with a Red Friday event Sept. 6.
Annually Red Friday culminates a week of events leading to the first Chiefs football game of the season. This week, Chiefs have covered statues on the Plaza and in Westport with jerseys, the KC Streetcar unveiled a Chiefs-wrapped unit, and the Missouri Department of Transportation added red lights to the Kit Bond Bridge.
The highlight of Red Friday is the sale of Chiefs-themed flags to raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. In the past five years, Red Friday has raised more than $1.2 million for the charity which provides a free, temporary place for families to live while their children are in the hospital.

With the 2019 season being the 60th for the Chiefs (the first three in Dallas), the team will give out 60 autographed prizes Friday. To qualify for the prize, you must buy a flag and post a picture of yourself with the flag on social media with the hashtag #RedFriday. The Chiefs will randomly select winners.
Prizes include posters, hats, footballs, and other items autographed by CEO Clark Hunt, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Damien Williams, Frank Clark and Tyrann Mathieu.
Flags go on sale beginning at 5 a.m. Friday for a minimum donation of $5. You can buy them at McDonald's restaurants, Hy-Vee grocery stores and Community America Credit Union locations or online by clicking here.
This is the 28th year the Chiefs have hosted a Red Friday event, and the sixth time they've sold flags. At first, the team sold newspapers and magazines.
The 2019 flag features the team's 60th anniversary logo. Players will wear the same logo as a sticker on their helmets. It features the design of the American Football League with the initials L.H. The initials represent Lamar Hunt who founded the Chiefs and the American Football League before it merged with the NFL.
"The entire organization, including the players, coaches and staff, can feel the excitement and energy around the city and the entire Kingdom. This year’s Red Friday will be a great way to kick off what will be a special 60th season of Chiefs football,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said in a statement.
More than 135 McDonald's stores in Kansas City and St. Joesph will sell the flags. And roughly 55 stores in the Springfield, Missouri, area will also sell the flags Friday.
The Chiefs' first game of the 2019 regular season is against the Jaguars in Jacksonville on Sunday, Sept. 8 at noon, central time.
