KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An organization in the Kansas City area that aids those exploited by sex trafficking has regained an avenue to provide service to those in need.
Restoration House of Greater Kansas City, a faith-based, long-term residential care facility, reopened its ReHope Market and Cafe on Saturday.
Women who reside at Restoration House make tumblers, cold-processed soaps and body scrubs, all of which are sold at the cafe in Greenwood, according to Roxie Lloyd, Restoration House’s director of adult services.
“When the girls can put their hands on things, create new things, use their imagination, all that healing process is good for their souls,” Lloyd said.
Becky Moyer, who is on the board of the Restoration House, said the cafe raises awareness and its profits support the facility.
“The problem has not gone away,” Moyer said. “The problem has gotten worse as a result of people being at home or how they just -- how they're spending their time and what's happening.”
Restoration House also offers equine therapy, alcohol and drug recovery and trauma healing, among other services.
