KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Macy’s plans to close one of its stores in the Kansas City metro.

The Independence Center location will close by the middle of this year, one of three dozen stores that the retail giant plans to exit in 2021, according to a CNBC report.

Macy’s said last year that it planned to close 125 stores over three years, with a focus on closing weaker-performing locations in malls.

Since 2015, Macy’s has closed more than 100 stores.

A closing date for the Independence Center store was not immediately given.

In Missouri, Macy’s also will close its locations at the Northpark Mall in Joplin and West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau. No stores in Kansas are slated for closure in the coming year, according to the CNBC report.
