“Clinton Lake has been in the process of releasing a lot of water,” Douglas County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Kristen Channel said. “It was moving very rapidly at the time that he did go into the water. Currently, we have turned off the water to the outlet to lower the water level to make searching a little easier, and it won’t be turned back on until we’re able to find him.”
Rescue crews called off the search for the night around 9:30 p.m. and announced plans to resume looking for the boy at sunrise.
The search for the 13-year-old has been suspended for the night. Law enforcement will resume searching for him first thing in the morning. We will update tomorrow when we have further information.

“The area is a recreational area, but it’s not an area common for people to be in the water,” Channel said.
