KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ride KC is offering a coupon for two free rides in April on its new micro-transit service.
The transportation agency began offering the ride-hailing option in a select portion of Johnson County, Kansas, in February. It will be available for six months as a pilot program.
Micro-transit works a lot like ride-sharing apps Uber and Lyft.
Users request a ride using an app, a Ride KC van picks them up at their location then drops them off where they need to go. Each one-way trip costs $1.50.
Riders may share the same van with up to 11 other passengers.
The service is only available from Shawnee Mission Parkway south to 119th Street between Metcalf Avenue to the east and Renner Boulevard to the west.
The area includes Johnson County Community College, Oak Park Mall, and AdventHealth Shawnee Mission.
