KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Flames destroyed a Spring Hill, Kansas, house late Thursday night.

The fire broke out about 9:20 p.m. and quickly engulfed the large house in the 18000 block of West 207th Street.

Johnson County firefighters battled the blaze, which illuminated the night sky.

The fire took place at a home that was under construction. The house collapsed from the severity of the fire.

Crews remained on the scene through the night to monitor for hot spots and flare-ups.

No one was injured in the fire, but it was difficult to battle since there was no fire hydrant nearby.

Fire crews had to shuttle water from the nearest hydrant to the fire.

There was also a significant amount of wind fueling the fire.

The fire is under investigation and the cause is unknown.
