KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City Royals announced Wednesday that the final two murals in their Raised Royal Mural Program are in the works.
The fifth mural in the series with be located at the KunstraumKC Studio, and the sixth will be painted on the side of Sweet Siam Thai Restaurant in Westport.
Lance Flores was commissioned to paint the fifth mural, which will be completed mid-September.
Production on the sixth mural, which is being painted by Carpenter Collective, began last week. Production is expected to wrap up in time for the Westport Art Festival on September 8-10.
The Royals said in a news release that the series began as part of the 2017 “Raised Royal” marketing campaign and has given local artists the opportunity to showcase what the phrase means.
“Our Raised Royal Mural Program has been successful as it has allowed local artists to visibly display their relationship with our baseball club,” said Vice President of Marketing & Business Development Mike Bucek. “We’re pleased with the creativity and how our passionate fans have responded to these long-lasting tributes. The Club is excited to see the completion of the program with the final two murals and congratulates all of the participating artists for their great work.”
Four previous murals and the design for a bus have also been completed as part of the program.
