EARLIER | As weather conditions deteriorated early Wednesday afternoon, several area school districts announced plans to release early or cancel afternoon activities.
The University of Kansas said its Lawrence campus will remain closed for the rest of the afternoon.
Many other school districts in the metro area, including North Kansas City, St. Joseph, Raytown, Belton, Olathe and others, have canceled after-school activities due to icy conditions.
