Several hour standoff ends peacefully in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A standoff that lasted several hours ended peacefully late Saturday night.

Kansas City police responded to a disturbance call in the 4800 block of E. 23rd just after 4:30 p.m.

Police say the disturbance involved a male who was armed and suicidal and another person at the residence.

Tactical response teams and negotiators worked for several hours to make contact and come to a peaceful resolution.

The standoff ended just before 11 p.m. with the male taken into custody.

He was transported to an area hospital to be evaluated.
