SHAWNEE, Kan. -- A fire at a home on Neiman Road caused a power outage for more than 1,000 customers Friday morning.
The Shawnee Fire Marshal said the fire started just before 5 a.m. When crews arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames. Three people escaped the home, and two of them had minor injuries.
Because the home was so close to power lines, fire officials decided to call service crews and have the power shut off, causing more than 1,000 customers to lose their electricity.
Once the fire was under control, all power was restored by 7:30 a.m.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
