A Shawnee Mission East High School student is now accused of four counts of sexual assault involving three alleged victims, according to court documents.

Officials initially said one student sexually assaulted a classmate in a bathroom at the school on September 14.

The suspect might have victimized multiple girls on the same day, court documents show.

Documents obtained by 41 Action News show that the student is facing charges for incidents involving two different girls on the same day.

He's also charged with exposing himself to a third victim in April 2015. It is unknown if this incident took place at school or was reported earlier.

The Shawnee Mission School District referred all questions to the Johnson County Prosecutor's Office.

The district said because of privacy laws it cannot discuss disciplinary action, but several sources told 41 Action News the 15-year-old boy is no longer at school.

Kansas state law says a school district cannot expel a student for more than 186 days.

Attempts to reach the boy's family were unsuccessful.

Students talk about alleged sexual assault

Senior Katie Kuhlman started the #WearBlackToStopAttacks movement.

After she heard about the alleged sexual assault, she wanted to make sure the situation did not go unnoticed.

“That is one of the biggest problems concerning sexual assault is no one wants to talk about it,” Kuhlman said. “So we did a visual display of support to show her that we recognize this happened to her, we support her."

As the high school moves forward, Kuhlman said she is working with the principal to create an outline for how students should deal with potential sexual assaults.

"If something like that happens, people don't know what to do," Kuhlman said. "Do I talk to a teacher, do I talk to the principal? Am I supposed to go to my counselor or the nurse? Where do I go from here?"
