KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For the second time in less than two years, vandals damaged the statue of abolitionist John Brown in Kansas City, Kansas.

It appeared that Brown's right fingers were cut off and a scroll that was in his right hand may have been stolen.

The vandalism was discovered earlier this week.

The statue stands near North 29th Street and Sewell Avenue near the Quindaro Ruins in KCK. It's been at that site for more than 100 years.

Vandals defaced the statue in March 2018 by drawing swastikas and other racist symbols on the monument.
