Engine failure causes small plane to land near Johnson County airport

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A small piper airplane suffered engine failure and made an unauthorized landing in a field near the Johnson County airport Saturday afternoon.

Just after 2:30 a 1951 Piper, piloted by Charles Blakely of Elijay, Georgia reported the plane suffered engine failure and would not restart.

He set the plane down in an empty field.

There was no injury to the pilot, aircraft or field.
