KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Imagine being a professional athlete, but needing your mom to drop you off at the stadium. That's now the case for one Sporting KC player.
Sporting KC has signed the second youngest player ever to an MLS contract.
Gianluca Busio has dreamt of being a professional soccer payer his entire life (all 15 years of it).
The newest player to sign a contract with Sporting KC is much more advanced than a lot of his peers. Sporting KC Manager Peter Vermes said the sky’s the limit for Busio.
“He wanted to be a professional soccer player his whole life. Up until now that’s all he’s dreamed of. And he’s got this opportunity and I don’t’ think he couldn’t have made a better choice," Vermes said.

From the start, everyone saw something in him you don’t always see in someone his age. Busio has always wanted to play against the best.
“It matures you and makes you a better person and a player,” he said.
The Sporting KC Club said it plans to do everything it can to ensure his success. That includes everyone from the coaches to his host family. Sarah Tiedt said Busio first came to live with her family in December.
“It has been just a joy to have him in our house. He came and he was determined. And from the beginning when we watched him play, we knew this was something special," she said.
Both his host mom and his biological mother couldn’t be more proud. They said just want to make sure he shines in everything he does.
“Every other sentence will be that’s great,” Mom Dionne Sills Busio told 41 Action News. “And he’s like Mom I scored a goal. I’ll say that’s great, but did you get your assignment done.”
Busio is taking online classes. His host family helps him manage his schoolwork and soccer schedule. No word yet on when he might play at Children’s Mercy Park.
