On Thursday morning it wasn't the monster trucks that rolled into the Sprint Center, it was dump trucks loaded with dirt.
To make the track, organizers had to bring in 1,500 cubic yards of dirt, 30 gallons of paint and several large tractor tires and utility poles.
"It's a new format," said Jimmy Mirajez, the event director. "We don't expect the fans to know what goes on behind the scenes, we just want them to show up and have a good time."
It takes less than 12 hours for the crew to shape the track and get it ready for the monster trucks to rip it up.
At Monster Jam there is expected to be eight monster trucks, speedsters and ATV races. The event starts Friday and runs through Sunday, Feb. 7.
