KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In another step to merge T-Mobile and Sprint, one of Kansas City's largest entertainment venues is getting a new name.
The Sprint Center will now be called the T-Mobile Center.
The announcement came in a press release on Thursday.
“I couldn’t be prouder to announce T-Mobile Center and show the Kansas City community that we’re deeply invested in the home of our second headquarters! We’re proud to be with you, and when it’s safe to re-open, we’re bringing you some incredible Un-carrier experiences,” T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert, said in a statement. “Kansas City has a rich culture, known for live entertainment, sports, a thriving arts scene and my personal favorite, Kansas City BBQ, and we are honored to help bring it all to life in T-Mobile Center well into the next decade! Get ready for a good time!”
With the renaming comes the opportunity for T-Mobile and Sprint customers to gain fast pass entry to the venue by showing their phone at the 13th Street and Grand Boulevard entrance.
The signage on the center is expected to change in August and the change is already reflected on the venue website and some social media.
