KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Downtown Kansas City, Missouri, was a scene of chaos Tuesday night.
KCPD said it received several calls about street racing, dangerous driving and gunshots.
The calls came from areas near the T-Mobile Center, Front Street and in the Metro Patrol zone.
Police found the racing scene at 17th Street and Manchester Avenue.
KCPD said 50 to 60 vehicles fled the area and were pushed south down Manchester Avenue by a few officers while other officers put out stop sticks ahead.
Officers issued 67 tickets, recovered one gun, recovered one stolen vehicle and towed another 18 vehicles.
It was earlier reported that the racers were involved with shots fired at the intersection of Truman Road and The Paseo, near where baseball games were taking place at the Kansas City MLB Urban Youth Academy.
Also during the incident, bricks were thrown at officers from the 23rd Street overpass.
No injuries were reported.
