KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police responding to a possible disturbance at a middle school didn’t find a gun but did find several injured students.
Lawrence Police Department officers were called out around 11:30 a.m. to Liberty Memorial Central Middle School for a reported intruder.
After searching the building, it was determined there was no threat.
But earlier in the day, students alerted school administrators about a possible gun brought to campus by another student.
Administrators questioned the child and the school was placed on lockdown at that time as a precaution, prompting several students to text parents and leading to several 911 calls from concerned parents.
Some parents even went to the school in an attempt to remove their children from class.
Arriving officers found some parents trying to help students out of the building through a broken first-floor window, leading to some minor injuries to children from the broken glass.
Police quickly determined there were no weapons present in the school and no students, faculty or staff were in danger.
