Suspect in custody after firing at officers, three hour standoff

LAWRENCE, Kan. - A suspect is in custody after firing at officers, and a three and a half hour standoff in the 600 block of Stowe Court overnight.

Just before 10:00 p.m. officers were called to the 400 block of N. Crestline in reference to a disturbance with weapons.

As police arrived on scene, the suspect fled in a vehicle to Stowe Court. At some point a struggle ensued and the suspect fled into a house for a short time.

The suspect then came back outside and brandished a weapon at the officer, who fired.

The suspect fled back into the house and a standoff followed.

The suspect finally came out of the house about three and a half hours later.

No injuries were reported.

The officer is on paid administrative leave, while the Johnson County Sheriff's Officer conducts an investigation.
