Swope Health Services to open new specialty clinic

Swope Health will soon be expanding its services, with a new specialty clinic at its central location.

The new clinic will be designated for patients with digestive system problems and heart diseases, helping them get easier access to specialists.

“We looked at our referral numbers and saw that patients were being referred out to things like cardiology and GI issues,” Vice President for Swope Health Community Engagement, Development & Outreach, Michelle Keller, said. “And we thought rather than delay care, why not bring that specialty care in house and remove some of the barriers that our patients were seeing as it related to meeting their appointments for their specialty care.”

Keller says the clinic will provide patients with the specialty care they need in hopes of improving their health.

“We’re trying to shorten the time it takes to get someone in for a referral and continue along that care path,” Keller said.

The new clinic will have three exam rooms.

Keller says right now they’re waiting to get site certified through the Human Resources Services Association before they open.

Swope Health officials say the new specialty clinic is set to open this Spring.
