Subject in custody in Grandview teen's death

UPDATE 12:30PM 6/2/2018:  The Jackson County Prosecutor's office has charged Ja'Quann L. McCarver, 18, of Kansas City with Murder in the 2nd Degree, Unlawful use of a Weapon,  and two counts of Armed Criminal Action. 

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — UPDATE 10:10 PM 6/1/2018: Grandview police say a subject has been placed on a 24-hour investigative hold in the death of a teen. 

Police said the case has been submitted to the Jackson County Prosecutor to consider charges.

A 16-year-old boy in Grandview, Missouri was killed from an apparent gunshot wound Tuesday afternoon.

Grandview police say officers were called to a shooting at about 4:15 p.m. on the 11900 block of Holiday Drive.

The teen was taken to a nearby hospital but later died. Grandview police identified the victim as Tyson White. 

Officials say they are investigating the case as a homicide.
