KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The second in command in Kansas government is ready to take the top spot.

If Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback is confirmed for an Ambassador position with the Trump Administration, Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer would become Governor.

Colyer was in Kansas City Thursday, speaking at the Ag Outlook Forum at the Stinson building.  During an interview, Colyer said he does have plans if he becomes Governor of Kansas.

"I'm a Kansan first. Very pragmatic. We have to grow our state. As the state grows, you can collect more revenue you can deal with problems. But one of the things we have shown is that we need to focus on getting the job done and doing it the right way at the right price and getting rid of waste and things like that," said Colyer.

If Colyer becomes Governor of Kansas he will inherit a massive budget deficit and school funding problems. But Colyer believes working together will solve those problems.

Colyer said he believes the public is tired of politics and they want solutions.
