KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A third person was charged Tuesday in the shooting death of 17-year-old Rowan Padgett in Olathe, Kansas, last month.

Matthew Lee Bibee, 18, was charged with felony murder, aggravated robbery and criminal damage to property.

Bibee, of Overland Park, was named a person of interest in the deadly shooting and was taken into custody two days later following a shootout with Olathe police. No officers were injured, though Bibee was struck by an officer’s bullet.

In that incident, Bibee faces charges of attempted capital murder, attempted first-degree murder, attempted aggravated robbery, battery on a law enforcement officer and battery.

A 16-year-old girl and 17-year-old boy have also been charged with first-degree murder in Padgett’s death. 41 Action News will not name the juveniles unless or until they are charged as adults.

Padgett, of Overland Park, was found shot in the 12300 block of South Mullen Court on March 29. He died at the scene.

Bibee is being held on a $1 million bond.
