KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A search for two suspects wanted for fleeing a Leavenworth County Sheriff’s deputy prompted schools in Tonganoxie, Kansas, to take extra security measures.

In a Facebook post Wednesday morning, the district said while classroom instruction wasn’t affected, exterior doors were locked and students are being kept in the building while deputies search for the suspects.

The district said the search is north of the city itself and that the extra measures are just a precaution.

One of the suspects was in custody as of 11:40 a.m.

The other man was seen getting into a white work truck that headed north on 207th Street from Tonganoxie Drive. The suspect is wearing a white shirt with holes in int and jeans.

Anyone who sees the vehicle or suspect should not approach and should call police.
