KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, tow truck company operator faces multiple forgery charges for allegedly illegally towing vehicles from Kansas City parking lots.
Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced that Allen T. Bloodworth, 42, faces 31 counts of forgery for illegally towing vehicles between April 7, 2017, and Nov. 19, 2017.
According to court records, Bloodworth operates a private towing company, Private Party Impound LLC, located in the 5600 block of East 31st Street.
Peters Baker alleges Bloodworth and his employees were illegally towing abandoned vehicles from private property.
To do so, he or his employees completed a state-required Department of Revenue form that requires the name of a property or security manager who is authoring and witnessing the tow.
The investigation found those forms were used 280 times to tow vehicles.
They were signed with two names of area apartment or property managers, who told police they had not given permission to Bloodworth to use their names for the tows.
Jean Peters Baker added that "area residents of East Zone neighborhoods were frequent victims of the deceptive business practices in the criminal complaint. Though all deserve protection from deceptive practices, many of Bloodworth's victims already face great financial hardship, exacerbating their injury."
People who live nearby the lot had their suspicions.
"Just because of the action they had over there, there's always something going on and it's hard to figure out what's going on but there's a lot of cars coming and going under all kind of mysterious conditions," Jim Savart said.
