Ramon Boyd, 29, and Destynie Wright, 19, face charges of second-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.
According to a probable cause statement issued by the Circuit Court of Jackson County, Wright spent New Year's Day with the female victim, who was her friend. As the pair were leaving a New Year event, they were approached by Jones, the female victim's ex-boyfriend. Jones was drunk and needed a ride home; the female victim agreed to drive his SUV back to his house with Jones in the passenger seat.
They spoke for several minutes, during which time Wright texted Boyd with several messages urging him to "come get him now," court records stated. Wright may have believed that Jones was armed.
According to the female victim, Boyd arrived on the scene and shot both her and Jones. Wright then drove home and deleted the text messages off of her phone; they were later obtained by police.
The female victim is still recovering from her injuries.
Prosecutors have requested a bond of $250,000 cash for each defendant.
