UPDATE, 4/19: The U.S. Attorney's Office - Western District of Missouri says three men have been charged in connection with a bank robbery in Kansas City, Kansas.
Jonathan Dehaven, 33, Brandon Wright, 29, and Darus Mebane, 37, are charged with armed bank robbery.
The three are accused of robbing the UMB Bank at 8300 Parallel Parkway in KCK shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday. They were caught a short time later after they crashed while trying to flee.
Police say two men entered the bank. One pulled a weapon, threatened employees and took money. Court documents say the robbers took currency including two electronic tracking devices.
The pair entered a white Yukon that was being driven by a third suspect eastbound on Leavenworth Road when it was spotted by a police officer. According to court documents, the officer attempted to stop the white Yukon. The vehicle initially stopped, but when the officer exited his patrol vehicle, the vehicle sped off.
Court documents say the officer was advised by another that the latest GPS ping information showed the electronic tracking devices in front of the officer, and traveling at the same speed as the Yukon.
The officer pursued the vehicle, and the suspect Yukon crashed into other vehicles at 51st and Leavenworth Road before finally coming to a stop.
Officer Cameron Morgan of KCKPD said the three suspects were then taken into custody.
Court documents say Kansas City police processed the crash scene for evidence related to the robbery. Some of the items included a sack containing more than $20,000, two electronic tracking devices and a semi-automatic handgun.
Several people involved were taken to the hospital with injuries; most are in stable condition, but KCKPD Chief of Police Terry Zeigler tweeted that one of the three suspects is still dealing with life-threatening injuries.
