KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people were shot, including one fatally, shortly before 2 a.m. on Sunday near 19th and Vine streets.
Kansas City, Missouri, police were called to the area to investigate the sound of shots and located a victim in a vehicle who was deceased.
Police later identified the victim as 25-year-old Jackie Johnson.
A short time later, a second male arrived at an area hospital with a gunshot wound. He was reported in serious condition and KCPD believes he was shot at the same location as Johnson.
Police said there were enough people outside in the area at the time of the shooting that it's likely someone saw something that can help the investigation, which currently centers on a sport-utility vehicle seen leaving the scene.
KCPD released two photos of a white SUV with black door handles, a sun roof, tinted windows, and a black luggage rack. The occupants are considered armed and dangerous.
